The singer highlighted how she hoped her future partner wouldn’t “care that much about keeping people out”
Taylor Swift manifested a fame-savvy partner long before she and Travis Kelce met.
Swift, then 21 years old, spoke up in a recently rediscovered 2011 interview with 60 Minutes that was included on the most recent episode of the show’s A Second Look podcast. She expressed her want for a future partner to be able to handle celebrity on the same level as she does.
“It’s so heartbreaking when things click, but your comfort level with fame is so different than [the person you’re dating],” she told the outlet at the time. “‘Cause I don’t care … It doesn’t matter to me who’s looking, but it does to some people.”
Swift, now 34, further highlighted how “You couldn’t really have a good relationship with someone who cares that much. Thankfully for the singer’s wishes, just over a decade later she would find a boyfriend seemingly all-in on the attention that their high-profile relationship draws. In the time since she and Kelce, 34, have gone public with their romance, the pair have been spotted everywhere from the U.S. Open to the 2024 Super Bowl and lower-key romantic evenings out in New York City.
The NFL star even appeared alongside Swift at her London Eras Tour show, carrying her across the stage while donning a black tuxedo at Taylor Swift Said She Wanted a Boyfriend Whose ‘Comfort Level with Fame’ Matched Hers in Resurfaced 2011 Interview.
Kelce said during a September appearance on CBS Mornings that living in Swift’s spotlight is “the life I chose, I guess,” while adding, “I have fun with it. It comes with the territory of wanting to do fun activities like this.”
“Everyone’s loving it. Mama Kelce is having so much fun,” the Kansas City tight end explained of his family’s reaction to the massive rise in fame he has encountered in the same interview. “I think my dad is slowly getting more comfortable with it, and Jason has always been a pro at it,” he added of his brother, retired Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce, 36. at Taylor Swift Said She Wanted a Boyfriend Whose ‘Comfort Level with Fame’ Matched Hers in Resurfaced 2011 Interview
In that same interview, Kelce opened up about why he thinks “people are rooting for him” as his profile has risen thanks to his relationship with Swift at Taylor Swift Said She Wanted a Boyfriend Whose ‘Comfort Level with Fame’ Matched Hers in Resurfaced 2011 Interview.
“Hopefully, it’s because they perceive me as an authentically kind person who enjoys doing what he does and spending time with his partners,” he added at the time.
